The strings of the guitar are played gently to let it soak in for an easy listening. It's like cool jazz in the sense that it is more accessible, plus the words are just as soft with a slow pace.  Nothing pushing a creative line like Miles Davis, but the guitar takes over.  Also, it's like a voice of its own like Miles' music was said to have.
